John Woo is traditionally known for his frantic, hyper kinetic, bullet-riddled filmmaking that has on occaision been referred to as a ballet of violence. In a departure from his usual activities, he's taken a step into gaming to produce the frantic, hyper kinetic, bullet-riddled Stranglehold.

Stranglehold is the spiritual successor to Woo's Hard Boiled. Chow Yun Fat, star of the film, makes a reappearance as Inspector Tequila who's going to have to plough guns first into the criminal underworld to take on crime bosses who've made a grab for his family.

As you'd expect from anything spawning from the mind of Woo, Stranglehold features much sliding, diving and a whole lot of bullets. As well as the trademark Beretta pistols, M4 Carbine assault rifles, shotguns, rocket launchers and M249 light machine guns, you'll be able to arm yourself with four different powers as you progress.

These four 'Tequila Bombs' include health boost, Precision Aiming, Barrage (enhanced firepower with a tasty dose of invulnerability) and the smart bomb (which prompts the good inspector to spin in a circle, taking out the bad guys with uncanny accuracy.

If you want to see all-action two-fisted gunplay and tons of flying scenery, this one's for you.

Great game, although not played the full games only the demo, still it was great

Let's face it, golf can't just be for old men in pringle jumpers, funny looking golf pants and those bizarre little hats... can it? Well, not according to Sony and its golfing developer of choice, Clap Hanz.

Everybody's Golf World Tour, as the title would suggest, is all about inclusion. Golf's not just for the rich and idle any more! Well, maybe the idle...

Also going by the name of Hot Shots Golf 5, the game is... well, the fifth in that series. It features improved golf physics, complete with a brand new shot system. The system focuses on the swing, not the power, meaning that the player will keep a close eye on takeaway and impact zone and taking into account exactly what club they use, the distance and the weather.

Also included is a bumper online mode that enables the creation of tournaments for up to 50 participants and provides access to downloadable content and extensive stats tracking.

Naturally, it all comes with a healthy veneer of Everybody's Golf character. The words 'over-the-top' and 'zany' both spring to mind when describing the 15 playable characters and six caddies on offer...

Epic Games has quite a pedigree when it comes to its Unreal Tournament series, and the third instalment is no let-down. With on and offline options a-plenty, a vast arsenal of deadly weaponry, and the award-winning Unreal Engine 3 toolset with which to design your own mods, Unreal Tournament 3 (UT3) pulls out all the stops.

UT3's Campaign mode features a compelling single-player experience that follows the adventures of Ronin, a team of mercenaries out for revenge on those who destroyed their home colony. While playing through the single player campaign, certain in-game objectives will award you cards. These cards can be played before a mission to tweak the rules of the game. Some will give your team additional reinforcements, while others will hurt your opponents. Also available in single player mode is Instant Action, where you jump right in against computer-controlled Bots, in a selection of games including Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Vehicle Capture the Flag, Duel and Warfare.

Multiplayer modes include Quick Match, which will look for the best game available within the parameters you specify. You choose the match type - LAN or Internet - and a game mode (the same game list that's available in single player). You can also join a game based on your search parameters. You can also host a game, of course. For newbies, it's all explained in the 'not-ideal-bedtime-reading' game manual.
